The compiler's introduction to "Neil Young - A Perfect Echo":
NEIL YOUNG: A PERFECT ECHO [1-8]
This is a compilation of soundboard recordings from 1967-2001. The term soundboard is a bit of a misnomer. By soundboard I mean, basically, not an audience recording. Some are true soundboards, while others are FM, TV, ALD, or video-sourced recordings. The recordings were all taken from CDRs or videos that are circulating in the trading community.
Each track was checked out in Cool Edit with headphones, and may have had some cleanup done to remove any odd clicks, hiss, or other sound quality problems. The volume was set on each track so as to have them at similar volumes. Fades were added at the beginnings and ends of each track, so the tracks don't segue, for the most part. There are a couple of segues where successive songs were taken from the same concert, so it still needs to be burned DAO. Most of the banter between tracks was removed to make room for more tracks.
There are a total of 115 tracks (109 songs, as 6 get repeated). Some years were heavy with available recordings (1976 and 1989 come to mind). I tried to balance the set by not using too many songs from a single show. The entire 8 discs run in, roughly, chronological order.
Originally, I started making this as just a personal compilation from my collection. It took about a month to put together, including the planning of what would be included, the remastering of the tracks, and, finally, the creation of the artwork. At first, I didn't have a title and was just going to call it "a soundboard archive." While fixing some soft static in Natural Beauty, the title came to me, when he sang "I heard a perfect echo die...". I was going to call it Perfect Echo Die,
but a friend persuaded me to leave off the word "die," so now we have the title A Perfect Echo.
The intent was to make a nice sampling of soundboard recordings from throughout his career. It's sort of like an expanded Rock 'n' Roll Cowboy, with the intent to keep the sound quality higher and more consistent.
NEIL YOUNG: "A PERFECT ECHO," Volume 5
This is a new volume of the well known compilation A Perfect Echo which was compiled in 2001-2002 and made available in early 2002. Meanwhile this compilation is considered as one of the basics for every collection and is well known among all friends of the music of Neil
Young.
Now Vol. 5 is available, including Soundboard recordings from the years 1970-1999 (Disc 9) and from 2002-2003 (Disc 10).
Some of the earlier soundboards were "discovered" only recently and consequently Disc 9 is the result. Disc 10 includes tracks from shows which took place after the original Perfect Echo was finished.
Meanwhile even more shows are available in SBD quality (Bonnaroo 2003...), so let's hope for another volume in the future.
Neil Young with Booker T and the MGs
Torhout Festival, Torhout, Belgium
July 3, 1993
I got this at Dime some months ago, where it was upped by Harm85. The following description was taken from the original text file:
I got this show in a trade a while back... it's very good, pro-shot, by a Metallica roadie (how ironic) to test the equiptment for their own show. The quality of the image remains high, even during zoom. The original sound has been replaced with the soundboard of that show.
Camera: single audience camera, very steady picture, so probably on a tripod, possibly on a raised platform (mixing desk?) as there is a clear shot over the crowd throughout the film. Filmed in line with the center of the stage, probably about 80 feet back.
Picture quality: very good/excellent throughout
Camera work: excellent - mostly zoomed in on Neil and Donald Dunn/Steve Cropper with occasional panning and drawing back to capture the whole stage.
Sound quality: excellent. Between tracks there is virtually no audible noise from the crowd (despite the fact that people can be clearly seen shouting and clapping). This makes me wonder if the sound was taken direct from the mixing desk, or if a desk source was dubbed in later (if the latter, then whoever did it did a perfect job).
I also found the following information at:
http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/neilyoung/1993-07-03-torhout-dvd.htm,
which had two screenshots from the DVD, so presumably is one and the same as this one: "Nicely done, single camera pro shot with flawless close-miked stereo soundboard audio. No microphones on the audience so those who are fans of pure soundboard recordings will eat this one right up. A great show, and fun to watch. Recommended." I am not sure I would agree that this is 'pro shot', so I am not taking the comment on the sound as absolutely correct either (but it does fit very well with my description above).

This recording was widely distributed among fans under the title "Ahoy the Killer." Crystal Cat eventually got ahold of this excellent audience recording and put out its version, with eight bonus tracks from other concerts on the tour. This is almost a tour compilation -- every song played during the 2001 European Crazy Horse tour is here except "Heart of Gold." I don't know if Crystal Cat did any "remastering" -- the recording was so good in the first place that it wasn't needed. Both versions sound excellent to me.

Forever Young Vol.2 - a collection of Neil Young covers - Various artists
Well, well, well...I'm not a huge specialist of Neil Young but I thought he deserves to be in the collection of covers.
I've seen so many covers that I couldn't ignore it. So here it is!
As usual,I've done nothing to the tracks except some little things with Audacity ( removing gaps here and there, fading out...).
I've tried to do the best I could.
I've included the origin of each track. Sound quality changes but it's good enough all the time.
No artwork available of course but I know some guys like my friend Stephbear can make fine artworks!!!
All tracks have been downloaded and permitted on Dime or archive.org

The Band ejecutó "The Weight", y "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever", "Ain't That a Lot of Love", y un final estelar con "Will The Circle Be Unbroken?", que falta en la grabación.
The sound quality is absolutely stunning! This supercedes all others of this ilk, and contains many selections that I have not heard before.

Neil Young has announced his retirement from AFC Bournemouth, and will be leaving at the end of the season.
Neil Young has announced that he will be retiring from the English game at the end of the season. Younger will be moving to Australia in the Summer to take up a post with a soccer school in Adelaide.
Costumbres arraigadasCostumbres arraigadas.
¡Qué difícil es
cambiarlas para
adecuarlas a las circunstancias!
Cuesta enseñar algo nuevo
a un dinosaurio.
Lo he descubierto últimamente.
Estoy enraizado en mis costumbres.
Costumbres arraigadas,
acaban siendo tu bola
y tu cadena.
Oh, voy a dejar la hierba
y también la bebida.
Estaba dispuesto a cambiar
y dar un nuevo giro a mi vida.
Hasta la fiesta de anoche
era un hombre diferente
pero las costumbres arraigadas
reaparecieron.
La economía no iba nada bien
y tuve que dejarlo.
Trabajar era uno de mis hábitos
y lo seguiré demostrando.
Puede que un día
las cosas cambien
y cobre los atrasos.
Las costumbres arraigadas
vuelven siempre.
Tengo costumbres arraigadas.

Original notes:
It's been 10 years since the OPL shows! This was my first CD project created way back in 1998 and it's been pretty widely circulated since. I've updated it slightly to allow it on DIME.
I swapped out the original March 21 version of Baby, What You Want Me To Do?, which was used on the on the Broken Arrow album, for a version from March 20th. The included old cover art still reflects the incorrect 21st date for that song.
Enjoy.

“Don't Say You Win, Don't Say You Lose”...
