Recorded from the front barrier at the Pyramid Stage. Eight hours in the crowd without food, beer, or loo break gets you to the front. But it was worth it. Great night!

What Happened: Neil Young has earned a reputation as something of a belligerent performer over the years, or at least one stubborn enough to think it's OK to play an entire album twice in a row and call it a gig. But anyone dreading two hours devoid of the classics and heavy on Chrome Dreams II was in for a treat. The 63-year-old obligingly played for his audience, kicking off with a hammering version of Hey Hey My My (Into the Black), before lunging straight into Mansion on the Hill.
The set was heavy on the Crazy Horse era, with a very, very extended version of Down by the River. There was time to zip through some acoustic numbers, including Heart of Gold, before he worked the crowd up into a frenzy with a version of Rockin' in the Free World which included at least four blistering breakdowns and additional choruses. By the time he exited the stage at midnight, the crowd were chanting "Neil! Neil!", and he returned for an encore to perform the Beatles A Day in the Life.
High point: Young screaming "Yeaaaahh!" into the mic after breaking virtually every string on his guitar, which he then thumped with the mic stand. Getting in touch with his petulant rock star roots, we expect.

Las fotos de Glastonbury

Aunque solo una está dedicada a Neil Young (la número 12), es una colección tan impresionante la que Boston.com tiene en su página que pienso que no puedes pasar sin verla.

La gripe amenaza al Glastonbury

Ahora resulta que a los organizadores del Festival de Glastonbury le ha dado por pensar. Si a uno de los casi 150.000 paisanos que tendremos le pilla el virus ese maldito, sus abogados son capaces de llevarse todas las ganancias que nosotros necesitamos para vivir hasta el año siguiente. Lo mejor es consultar a las autoridades sanitarias a ver qué dicen.

Las autoridades, como buenos políticos sustentados con los votos de esas criaturitas, le va entrar un miedo por ese cuerpecito que "pa qué". Si en México han prohibido hasta los partidos de petanca, nosotros no vamos a ser menos.

Mal color tiene el Festival con estos elementos rondándole. Lo único bueno que puede pasar si se suspende es que Neil decida venir a tomar el sol a Andalucía o a Portugal, por ejemplo y entonces yo tendré mi tercer concierto este año.

Por suerte, como no veo la televisión, no me he enterado de eso de la gripe y tampoco de que haya una pandemia. He pasado mi gripe como todos los años, con leche, miel, brandy de Jerez y hablando de la crisis económica, como está mandado.
