El patio está que arde

Este Poncho siempre es el mismo. Si no habla, revienta. Pero no nos vamos a quejar porque al patio (de butaca) nos viene siempre bien que suelte la lengua. De momento se ha dejado caer con que su instinto le dice que este va a ser el último tour que hacen los cuatro juntos.

"I just think once it stops it's going to be kind of hard to get it rolling again," he says on the phone from his home in Hawaii. "My gut tells me this is really the last tour. I hate saying their ages, but I'm 64 and I'm the baby of the band. I love playing and we're playing as good as we ever did, but at any time something could go down with any one of us."

La verdad es que no hace falta tener mucho instinto para pensar eso (de hecho, muchos de nosotros ya lo pensamos desde hace unos añitos), pero conociendo al Tío Neil y a su tozudez, es posible que todavía lo embarque en alguna que otra gira.

De momento ya habla de una gira de otoño por lo USA… seguido de un disco en directo (¿un nuevo DVD?:

Eso (y la gira de CSN) echa por tierra cualquier posible gira de presentación del trabajo que tiene previsto salir a final de agosto: del nuevo ¿? disco de CSNY. Claro que se trata de material de la conflictiva reunión de 1974, del cual, afortunadamente, ha rodado bastante por los canales subterráneos gracias a montones de tapers y traders. ). Con toda seguridad hay un par de docenas (al menos) de boots circulando por ahí. Estoy recordando a un cuádruple documento titulado The Complete 1974 Tour Anthology, con bastante buena calidad (en los créditos pone soundboard, pero no es así) y con un poco de coña al escribir CSN + Young en la carátula…

Aunque en la portada se veía claramente el logo de Atlantic Records, esa discográfica no tuvo nada que ver con el boot, naturalmente. Según parece, la grabación se debe a un taper llamado Stan Gutoski que la realizó con su reel to reel marca Tandberg y su micro Sony desde la parte trasera del Coliseum de Seattle. Por lo que cuentan, Stan fue el responsable de la grabación de innumerables conciertos en esa ciudad durante los años 70’s y 80’s y este fue uno de los mejores registrados.

Pues bién, volviendo al próximo disco, y en boca de Nash, al parecer, de las ocho o nueve grabaciones que se hicieron en el follonero tour de 1974, el mismo Nash se ha encargado de seleccionar la de mejor sonido (posiblemente Wembley) y se ha editado y grabado a la mayor calidad posible (dos millones de bits, según dijo Crosby con su sentido de humor característico).

De momento esto es todo: nada de gira hispana (seguimos sin perder la esperanza), este tour puede ser el último (como siempre) y pronto saldrá a la calle uno de los tour más problemáticos de nuestros CSNY.
