Son muchos los mensajes sobre qué hacer si no se pertenece al club, pero te apetece lucir las super-fantásticas y mega-maravillosas camisetas del II Rust Festival de La Playa.

Pues una cosa muy sencilla: PUEDES PEDIRLAS. No te cortes.

Este año nos hemos decididos por el color marrón y blanco. Las de color marrón llevarán un logotipo del festival con la portada del primer disco de Neil Young en solitario. Las blancas irán estampadas con un dibujo original de Gerardo Orellana alusivo a lo que nos vamos a encontrar los días 8 y 9 de Julio en Tarifa (Tío Neil incluido, je, je… la fe nunca se pierde).

El precio que hemos considerado justo es 12 euros. Muy baratas teniendo en cuenta que algunos eurillos irán a sufragar algunos gastos del festival y por lo que te damos las gracias por anticipado.

Ya falta menos. Te recuerdo que el 14 de Septiembre próximo tendrá lugar la presentación americana de la película en la inminente edición 2009 del TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), como ya te di noticias hace unos días.

También hubo un par de pre-estrenos con anterioridad, uno en el South by Southwest Festival (SXSW 2009) y otro en Festival de San Sebastián 2008, pero en ninguno de ellos se proyectó la cinta completa.

Algunos se están dando prisas, como esta web, que ya anuncia el DVD, y que ha sido difundida en la lista flamenca de Neil. Lo malo es que yo no sé flamenco, a pesar de serlo mucho.

Llegan las rebajas

Parece que las rebajas nos alcanzarán a todos, incluso a los sufridos compradores de esas cosas llamadas discos.

Por un lado me llega la noticia que Fnac ha lanzado una oferta de discos a 5 eurillos. He mirado y están casi todos los clásicos de Neil Young, así que es una buena oportunidad para hacerte con ellos si aun no los tienes.

Por otro lado, una discusión en la Rust me ha alertado de otra oferta, está vez se trata de los recientemente aparecidos NEIL YOUNG ARCHIVES VOL. 1, que están a la no despreciable oferta de 238 y 191 dólares aproximadamente (168 y 135 Euros aprox. al cambio de hoy), aunque la oferta de envío gratis será solo para USA y que me está haciendo dudar de cambiar mi decisión anterior.

Neil Young's newest studio album, "Fork In The Road," is coming on April 7th, but you can pre-order the special CD/DVD version (which comes with select videos of the album's songs) right now by going to neilyoung.com and clicking on the banner on the homepage.

Neil has been an activist his entire career, and over the past few years has become involved in developing different fuel possibilities. Along with Johnathan Goodwin, their Linc Volt project (lincvolt.com) using alternative energy to power Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental is now finished. From that development and other inspirations, the songs on "Fork In The Road" are an emotional response to the current social and ecological questions facing the world’s population. Recorded in 2008 between tour dates, Young and his band Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar, keyboards), Chad Cromwell (drums), Rick Rosas (bass), Pegi Young (vocals) and Anthony Crawford (vocals, guitar) were instantly sparked playing new songs like "Johnny Magic," "Fuel Line," "Light a Candle" and others, roaring through the sessions at top speed.

Uncut magazine's Bud Scoppa writes about the album: "Fork In The Road" finds Young back in his rusted-out garage, looking under the hood of a world badly in need of an overhaul. Employing the classic American metaphor of the endless highway, he sets out on a road trip through these troubled times, finding much to fret about, but fueled by the dogged belief that we can get through this mess. And if 'Just singing a song won't change the world,' as Young acknowledges in the rousing, Zuma-like 'Singing a Song,' that's not gonna keep him from rockin' in whatever’s left of the free world."
